Duties

Duties will vary widely based on the training assignment and department program needs. If you are interested in interning with a specific department, you may reach out to them directly.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the fundamentals of department program area
• The ability to follow instructions, accept supervision; comprehend and digest training; maintain confidentiality of information; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; establish and maintain harmonious and cooperative relationships with other county staff and the public

Education And Experience

• Vocational Rehabilitation Trainee: Person assigned to temporary employment with the County through an approved vocational rehabilitation plan.
• Intern: Person appointed to temporary employment with the County in a training position which compliments their ongoing education as a regularly enrolled student in an accredited school, who have recently graduated from an accredited undergraduate or graduate program and who are working to complete related licensure or certification requirements, or as a participant in a supervised training program to meet licensure requirements of the State of California.

Note

• Existing law requires state agencies, when hiring for internships and student assistant positions, to give preference to a qualified applicant who is, or has been, a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth, or a formerly incarcerated youth.
• Salary to be determined by the department. Work hours cannot exceed a maximum of 960 hours per fiscal year.
