INTERN - SOCIAL WORK (MSW/MA) - UNPAID

Responsibilities

• Conduct therapeutic services for patients under the supervision of Therapists.
• Provide counseling sessions for families, individuals, and groups.
• Interview and develop the psychosocial history of patients and families.
• Assess therapeutic needs and develop appropriate treatment objectives.
• Create monthly treatment summaries.
• Act as the primary contact and advocate for patients and families with the treatment team.
• Liaise with outside agencies and individuals for discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Master’s Degree program from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, or related fields.
• Good verbal and written communication skills to document assessments, treatment planning, and interventions.
• Knowledge of individual, group, and family therapy dynamics and techniques, including cultural, social, economic, communication, and role expectations within family systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary treatment team, managed care representatives, adults, and patient families.
• Knowledge of clinical skills to assess treatment dynamics and develop effective treatment strategies within the treatment plan.

Physical Requirements

• Must have good visual acuity.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and push/pull a minimum of 40 pounds.
• Ability to tolerate frequent position changes such as twisting, stooping, reaching, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, and bending positions for the duration of the shift.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for momentary to extended periods of time.
