Intern - Power Generation Instrument Technician

About the role

Dominion Energy Chesterfield Power Station in Chester, VA is seeking a motivated Instrument Technician Intern to gain hands‑on experience supporting power station operations and maintenance activities. Working alongside experienced technicians, the intern will assist with the inspection, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation used to monitor and control plant equipment. The role includes supporting preventative maintenance activities, collecting and analyzing data, participating in equipment inspections, and assisting with projects related to instrumentation and control systems. This position provides valuable exposure to power generation equipment, plant operations, and industrial maintenance practices while developing technical and professional skills in a safe and team‑oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, calibrate, and troubleshoot instrumentation that monitors and controls plant equipment.
• Support preventative maintenance activities for instrumentation and control systems.
• Collect and analyze operational data.
• Participate in equipment inspections.
• Assist with instrumentation‑related projects.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing an Associate’s degree in Instrumentation, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field, with an expected graduation date of Fall 2028 or 2029 and a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Pay

Hourly rate: $22.00 – $28.00 (actual rate may vary based on degree type, academic major, and/or school classification).
