About the role
This internship has been approved by the South Dakota Board of Nursing as a Clinical Enrichment Program and is directed by the Department of Corrections Nurse Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Work under the direct supervision of an assigned Registered Nurse and assist the nursing team with nursing assessments and nursing interventions through the use of nursing diagnosis and care plans in a patient treatment unit.
- Nursing sick call.
- Emergency response.
- Administering and monitoring response to medication and treatment.
- Recording and reporting pertinent medical and behavioral data.
- Completing clinical documentation according to policies and procedures.
- Perform procedures taught within the curriculum of your nursing education program under direct supervision of your Preceptor, back-up Preceptor, Resource RN, or Nurse Manager.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in an approved accredited RN program.
- Must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
- By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
Qualifications
- All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
Pay
Minimum Salary: $22.14 per hour

Session: Fall (September - December)
