About the role
The Operations Safety Intern will provide support on Operations Safety projects, participate in safety risk assessments, work with Operations Safety leaders on data analytics, business intelligence and artificial intelligence projects, and provide support as assigned by our Operations Safety Senior Managers and Managers.
What To Expect
Interns are placed into either Safety Management Systems or Operations Safety Programs:
- Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Data – SMS guides our day-to-day operation to ensure we follow safety compliance, and safety standards and proactively identify hazards and risks. It is in place to help us guard against injuries, incidents, and accidents. Every employee plays a vital role in managing safety through our SMS, including our CEO and leadership team.
- Support Operations Safety on various initiatives such as: Analyze safety data, and develop analytical capabilities, artificial intelligence workflows/tools, and business intelligence tools in support of cross-divisional safety projects, developing enhancements to existing safety frameworks and helping set new standards for our SMS program, and many other SMS and related data projects.
- A mentor will be assigned to everyone for personalized assistance and development.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current undergraduate or graduate students demonstrating strong academic performance
- Track record of outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well with others
- Ability to apply quantitative skills and discernment to the airline industry
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship now and in the future
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
- Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position
Preferred Skills
- Demonstrated understanding of the capabilities and limitations of generative AI tools and the ability to leverage AI effectively to support research, analysis, content creation, and problem-solving.
- Applies critical thinking to validate AI-generated outputs while adhering to organizational policies related to responsible AI use, data privacy, and security.
Pay
The starting rate for this role is $20.00. The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education and skills. This position may also be eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
