About the role
All members of Entergy's safety function will be expected to own safety, work to prevent incidents and seek to improve with the understanding that zero harm is possible. This is accomplished through facilitating the development and continuous improvement of the Safety and Occupational Health Management System. The safety function is a forward facing and customer centric role that requires strong foundational safety principles coupled with the appropriate level of technical acumen associated with the business. This internship will provide the opportunity to see how safety education obtained within academia is put into practice in real life operational situations.
Responsibilities
- Provides support for day-to-day tasks
- Travel to work sites within Entergy service territories
- Support development, delivery, and deployment of assigned management system components
- Develop and monitor observation tools, indicators and actions related to management system compliance
- Participate in the incident investigation process including root cause analysis and identification of corrective actions
- Participate in incident response efforts as a part of the Entergy incident command structure as assigned
- Participate in deployment of contractor safety process requirements and improvements
Requirements
- Pursuing undergraduate or master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health or related field with GPA 2.28 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher
- College and/or some work experience
Skills
- General industrial safety and occupational health knowledge
- Self-starter with strong analytical and communication skills
- Must be proficient in MS office tools – word, excel, ppt
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong and positive team attitude and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks
- Ability to understand scope and objective of each assignment
