Intern/Co-op - HES&S Safety and Industrial Hygiene (Fall 2027)

Responsibilities
Safety and Industrial Hygiene interns/co‑ops are critical to maintaining high standards for protecting people, the environment, and the communities where MPC operates. They support all areas of the business, including Refining; Midstream Crude Oil & Products Logistics; Midstream Natural Gas & Natural Gas Liquids Services; and Occupational & Environmental Hygiene. Opportunities are available for training in various Health, Environmental, Safety & Security (HES&S) subject areas.
- Facility audits
- Employee training programs
- Industrial hygiene activities
- Equipment maintenance
- Participation in health, safety, and security projects
- Incident investigations
- Emergency preparedness and response
- Governmental inspections
- Compliance with government regulations
- Agency liaison work with other Marathon business units
- Writing and submitting reports for projects
Qualifications
- Majors: Occupational Safety & Health; Safety Management; Public Health; Industrial Hygiene; Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability; Fire Protection & Safety; or related fields
- Concurrent enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) for the duration of the internship
- Strong academic performance
- Available to work on‑site 40 hours per week
- Ability to safely ascend/descend multiple flights of stairs or ladders and lift or carry items up to 50 lb
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for work‑related travel
- Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future
- Availability for multiple work terms is preferred
Pay
Minimum $24.09 per hour – Maximum $35.96 per hour
