Intern/Co-op - HES&S Safety and Industrial Hygiene (Fall 2027)

Interns/co‑ops work side‑by‑side with experienced professionals as contributing members of diverse work teams that create value for the company’s shareholders. The role supports all areas of the business, including Refining; Midstream Crude Oil & Products Logistics (Logistics & Storage); Midstream Natural Gas & Natural Gas Liquids Services; and Occupational & Environmental Hygiene.

Primary location: Findlay, Ohio.

Responsibilities

• Conduct facility audits.
• Develop and deliver employee training programs.
• Perform industrial hygiene tasks.
• Assist with equipment maintenance.
• Participate in health, safety, and security projects.
• Investigate incidents.
• Support emergency preparedness and response.
• Coordinate governmental inspections.
• Ensure compliance with government regulations.
• Act as an agency liaison with other Marathon business units.
• Prepare and submit reports for project deliverables.

Qualifications

• Desired majors: Occupational Safety & Health; Safety Management; Public Health; Industrial Hygiene; Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability; Fire Protection & Safety; or other related fields of study.
• Concurrent enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) program for the duration of the internship.
• Strong academic performance.
• Available to work on‑site 40 hours per week.
• Ability to safely ascend/descend multiple flights of stairs and/or ladders, and lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for work‑related travel.
• Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
• Availability for multiple work terms is preferred.

Pay

Minimum $24.09 per hour – Maximum $35.96 per hour.
