Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) offers internship and co‑op opportunities to high‑performing college students who want meaningful, hands‑on experience in environmental, health, safety & security (HES&S) areas. Interns and co‑ops work side‑by‑side with experienced professionals on projects that support Refining, Midstream Crude Oil & Products Logistics, and Midstream Natural Gas & Natural Gas Liquids Services.
Location: Findlay, Ohio
Responsibilities
- Interpret and/or develop company environmental policies and guidelines; create methods and procedures to ensure conformance.
- Provide guidance and technical assistance in organizing and establishing programs and procedures to implement and administer requirements, including budget inputs; monitor compliance and prepare related reports and recommendations.
- Design and/or review engineering designs and cost estimates for environmental equipment/systems; determine engineering specifications and recommend equipment as needed.
- Identify and investigate current and developing environmental problems or issues to determine causes and contributory circumstances; initiate steps to prevent recurrences and provide recommendations to senior management.
- Stay current on environmental legislation, regulatory agency actions, and international standards; assist with legislative and regulatory impact assessments, submit required reports, and obtain necessary permits.
- Develop environmental information, manuals, training material, and programs; inform employees of related policies and procedures and conduct training sessions.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science.
- Concurrent enrollment in a Bachelor’s‑degree program for the duration of the internship.
- Strong academic performance.
- Available to work on‑site 40 hours per week.
- Ability to safely ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs and/or ladders, and lift or carry items weighing up to 50 lb.
- Valid driver’s license for work‑related travel.
- Reliable transportation to and from the workplace.
- Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
- Availability for multiple work terms is preferred.
Pay
Minimum $24.09 per hour – Maximum $43.23 per hour.
