Environmental interns/co-ops are critical to ensuring that we maintain high standards for protecting people, the environment, and the communities where we work and live. They support all areas of the business, including: Refining; Midstream Crude Oil & Products Logistics (Logistics & Storage); and Midstream Natural Gas & Natural Gas Liquids Services. Opportunities are available for interns/co-ops to receive training in various Health, Environmental, Safety & Security (HES&S) subject areas.
Responsibilities
Environmental interns/co-ops assist company professionals in the following areas:
- Interpret and/or develop Company environmental policies and guidelines; and develop methods and procedures for implementing and assuring conformance.
- Provide guidance and technical assistance in organizing and establishing programs and procedures to implement and administer requirements, including budget inputs; and monitor compliance with these policies in assigned areas and direct related reports and recommendations to appropriate personnel.
- Design and/or review engineering designs and cost estimates for environmental equipment/systems; and/or determine engineering specifications and recommend equipment, as required.
- Identify and investigate current and developing environmental problems or issues to determine cause and contributory circumstances; initiate steps to prevent recurrences; and provide recommendations with appropriate personnel as well as communicating to senior management.
- Keep abreast of environmental legislation, regulatory agency actions, and international standards as well as related technological and administrative developments; develop/assist with legislative and regulatory impact assessment to ensure an appropriate response by the Company to governmental proposals; submit required reports; and obtain various permits as required.
- Develop environmental information, manuals, training material and programs; inform employees of related policies and procedures; and conduct appropriate training sessions.
Qualifications
- Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science.
- Concurrent enrollment in a Bachelor's degree seeking program for the duration of the internship experience.
- Strong academic performance.
- Available to work on site 40 hours per week.
- Must be able to safely ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs and/or ladders, and lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Valid driver's license for work-related travel.
- Must be able to provide reliable transportation to and from place of work.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United Sates without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.
- Available for multiple work terms is preferred.
Pay
MIN - $24.09 per hour / MAX - $43.23 per hour
