About the role
WSET News offers a Fall 2026 News Internship providing real-world newsroom experience and hands-on training in news production from start to finish. This unpaid opportunity is based at WSET News in Roanoke (Lynchburg), VA.
If you are studying journalism, mass communications, communications, or a related field and want to experience the world of news firsthand, this internship is designed for you.
What to Expect
- Work in an active, fast-moving newsroom environment.
- Collaborate with reporters, anchors, producers, editors, and photographers both in-house and in the field.
- Receive training on producing news segments, researching and pitching stories, operating camera equipment, and capturing essential shots.
Requirements
- Must be attending an accredited college or university or be a recent college graduate.
- Willing to work approximately 15 hours a week for 10 weeks, beginning in September 2026 (hours may vary due to news programming schedules).
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to work from our Roanoke (Lynchburg), VA location.
