About the role
The Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA/Agency) seeks to fill one (1) internship opportunity in the Administrative & Board Services Department. This internship is designed for college graduates and students who thrive from collaboration, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, value learning new skills in engineering, construction, and public works administration, and enjoy contributing to the wellbeing of their community.
Responsibilities
- Perform a full array of duties including professional administrative work.
- Perform data analysis, data visualization, and data processing.
- Performs administrative research and statistical or financial analysis.
- Place orders for materials and office supplies.
- Conduct records research, retrieval of documents, and assist with administrative functions for capital improvement projects.
- Data input of spreadsheets and databases.
- Create and update spreadsheets with graphs, pivot tables, and charts.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Graduation or current enrollment in undergraduate or graduate studies in an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Economics, Operations Management, Purchasing, Materials Management or closely related fields.
- Prior related professional work experience is preferred.
- A valid class "C" California driver's license.
Qualifications
- Basic principles and practices of public agency purchasing;
- Principles and procedures of research, basic statistics, methodology and administrative analysis;
- Basic technical and administrative practices and procedures of assigned area;
- Record keeping practices and procedures related to a purchasing function;
- Principles of composition, basic report preparation and writing;
- Graphic and tabular presentation of data, modern office practices and equipment including a computer and applicable software;
- Record-keeping and filing practices and procedures;
- Proper English, spelling and grammar.
Skills
- Excellent time management skills;
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously;
- Willingness to learn and be flexible;
- Advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Access is a plus.
Benefits
This internship offers a flexible work schedule, with an estimated 20 to 25 hours per week, and office hours Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The successful candidate will be provided with the opportunity to enhance their working knowledge of public works administration and contribute to the wellbeing of the community.
Pay
The pay for this internship is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
The work schedule is flexible and can be adjusted to accommodate the intern's needs, with an estimated 20 to 25 hours per week.
