About the Role
The ConocoPhillips Accounting & Finance summer internship program includes an exciting job assignment, plus orientation, teambuilding, community service activities, weekly seminars, and opportunities to interact with upper management. Your supervisor will provide periodic performance appraisals, coaching, and guidance, and you will be assigned mentors. Near the end of your internship, you will present to local management about your work assignment and what you learned.
Internships are available at our sites in Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Houston, Texas; Midland, Texas; and Anchorage, AK. Typical internship length varies from 10 to 12 weeks based on the project and your availability.
Responsibilities
Opportunities vary by location:
- Bartlesville, OK: Financial Services and Internal Audit organizations handle booking revenue and associated receivable/payable journal entries, paying partners for our share of costs, resolving payment disputes, maintaining balance sheet account reconciliations, processing depreciation and fixed asset accounting, corporate accounting (debt, equity, pension), and risk identification/control validation.
- Houston and Midland, TX: Commercial Services, Controllers, Finance & Performance Analysis, Treasury, and Internal Audit organizations handle monitoring product volume accuracy, invoicing and payment of product, vendor monitoring, forecasting, budgeting, economic valuation, financial statement analysis, credit exposure monitoring, cash management, debt administration, and risk identification/control validation.
Requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer and/or education institution.
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, other business-related field, or foreign equivalent.
- Current college level: Sophomore through Senior or Graduate Student.
- Expected graduation date: Fall 2027 through Spring/Fall 2029.
- Available for internship starting mid-late May 2027.
- A minimum of ten (10) continuous weeks availability for internship.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ hours of Accounting coursework.
- Willing to work in Bartlesville, OK; Houston, TX; Midland, TX; or Anchorage, AK.
- A minimum cumulative and major GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Builds positive relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries.
- Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments.
- Understands how key financial and quantitative indicators impact the business.
