About the role

The Intermodal Business Coordinator manages customer intermodal freight within a team-based environment, overseeing traffic movements from origin through delivery. This role requires a deep understanding of customer processes, requirements, and business demands, along with establishing relationships and communicating needs to rail and drayage vendors to ensure fulfillment of customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Process orders in Alliance operating system.
  • Build relationships with rail, dray, and customers to meet requirements.
  • Manage customer business to ensure compliance with their requirements.
  • Update the Alliance operating system with current shipment data daily.
  • Ensure timely execution of pickup and delivery functions for each customer order.
  • Resolve and communicate shipment issues to customers.
  • Escalate issues outside standard operating procedures to Alliance management.
  • Train new team members on handled accounts as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience in intermodal freight handling, shipping operations, or freight forwarding.
  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, business administration, or related field preferred but not required.
  • 1-2 years of industry experience.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills with a focus on preventing future issues.
  • Honest, resourceful, and possess effective negotiation skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong time management skills.
  • Critical thinking and ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • High level of urgency and a strong desire to succeed.
  • Proficient in computer skills.
