INTERMODAL BUSINESS COORDINATOR

Alliance Shippers, Inc., a subsidiary of USMMG, provides tailored logistics services including temperature control, intermodal, ocean and air transportation, and freight brokerage. About the role
The Intermodal Business Coordinator manages customer intermodal freight within a team-based environment, overseeing traffic movements from origin through delivery. This role requires a deep understanding of customer processes, requirements, and business demands, along with establishing relationships and communicating needs to rail and drayage vendors to ensure fulfillment of customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Process orders in Alliance operating system.
- Build relationships with rail, dray, and customers to meet requirements.
- Manage customer business to ensure compliance with their requirements.
- Update the Alliance operating system with current shipment data daily.
- Ensure timely execution of pickup and delivery functions for each customer order.
- Resolve and communicate shipment issues to customers.
- Escalate issues outside standard operating procedures to Alliance management.
- Train new team members on handled accounts as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience in intermodal freight handling, shipping operations, or freight forwarding.
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, business administration, or related field preferred but not required.
- 1-2 years of industry experience.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple responsibilities.
- Strong conflict resolution skills with a focus on preventing future issues.
- Honest, resourceful, and possess effective negotiation skills.
- High attention to detail and strong time management skills.
- Critical thinking and ability to multi-task.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- High level of urgency and a strong desire to succeed.
- Proficient in computer skills.
