Interment Services Specialist II

Our associates celebrate lives. We celebrate our associates. Job Profile Summary Maintains overall grounds care at a cemetery or funeral home location(s). Performs basic tasks associated with setting up funeral services, helping to open/close burials, install memorials, and perform maintenance duties. Job Responsibilities Determines if location of interments, entombments or inurnments are accurate, complying with verification procedures.Considers location of markers and nearby coping. Assesses whether temporary movement of the coping is needed and ensures materials are not damaged.Sets, installs, and assembles foundations, memorials, and markers including granite and bronze markers.Able to perform backfill and tamping duties for interments and cremains safely using tools to create a tidy appearance at the siteMows grass, plows snow, waters lawns, fertilizes and trims shrubs, tends flower beds and regularly inspects assigned work areas to insure proper standards are maintainedOperates lawn and grounds equipment including push and power mowers, snow blowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers and other related power equipmentRemoves debris and trash from grounds. May include turning down vases and removing wilted flowersParticipates on teams for openings and closings for interments, entombments and inurnmentsPerforms minor repairs to the cemetery, building systems or equipment.Performs some of the duties associated with cremations such as maintaining inventory and complying with federal and state cremation regulations under minimal supervisionAssists in moving and installing burial vaultsMust follow safety rules and ensure compliance with the operating procedures of corporate, federal, state and local regulations, including OSHA regulations and Safety and Environmental guidelines Minimum Requirements Education High school diploma or equivalent required Experience Minimum 1 year relevant experience in landscaping, general construction, warehouse, physical labor demonstrating steady employment requiredFuneral industry experience preferredExpert Grounds Specialist must be able to demonstrate all proficiencies of a Grounds Specialist Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment, including, but not limited to a shovel, tamper, pick, rake, sledge hammer, lawn mower, weed trimmer and leaf blowerAbility to accurately use measuring devices (i.e. tape measure, yard-stick, etc.)Ability to work in extreme weather conditionsPhysically agile and dexterousAbility to operate equipment in a safe and careful mannerAbility to effectively work with others to accomplish tasksAbility to communicate effectively with associates, contractor personnel and client familiesBasic computer skills to enable retrieving and responding to email communications WORK CONDITIONS Work Environment Work outdoors during all seasons and weather conditionsComply with Field dress code policy Work Postures Frequent, continuous periods of time standing, up 6 hours per dayClimbing stairs to access buildings frequently Physical Demands Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 pounds Work Hours Working beyond “standard” hours as the need arisesSchedule may fluctuate, if a need arises, to an earlier or a later shift Postal Code: 78415 Category (Portal Searching): Cemetery Maintenance Job Location: US-TX - Corpus Christi
