About the Role
The Substation Physical Designer supports the Power Delivery Substation Team by providing technical design and CADD assistance on projects.
Responsibilities
- Generate accurate substation drawings, layouts, electrical schematics, and specifications using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Inventor.
- Assist in data collection, analyze site and blueprint data, verify calculations, and ensure designs meet industry standards, codes, and client requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and prepare multiple design versions for review.
- Support project phases from conceptual to detailed design.
- Contribute to safe, high-quality designs aligned with industry standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Inventor).
- 3D modeling skills.
- Strong understanding of drafting principles, codes, and regulations.
- Excellent communication, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Critical thinking, technical writing, and safety awareness.
Preferred Attributes
- Associate’s degree or professional licensure.
- Ability to adapt to project demands.
- Occasional travel may be required.
