About the role
Float Studio is a small interior architecture and design studio based in NYC. We work across workplace and commercial interiors, with a hospitality-driven approach and a big focus on the details that make a space feel intentional. Our team is small, friendly, and tight. We care about doing great work without burning people out. We are looking for someone who is calm, organized, and genuinely enjoys supporting a small team.
Responsibilities
- Programming
- Conduct site surveys and draft existing conditions in Revit
- Perform programming research
- Design & Documentation
- Develop space plans, furniture layouts, and interior elevations that support overall design intent
- Conduct concept design research and assist with concept moodboards
- Manage FF&E specifications including furniture, finishes, and materials
- Prepare and coordinate interior design documentation including plans, elevations and schedules
- Absorb and coordinate construction documentation and administration as needed
- Project Management
- Lead small projects or collaborate with design team on medium to large projects
- Manage project budgets and schedules, tracking and updating continuously
- Communicate project progress and updates to clients regularly
- Set up and maintain files for new and active projects
- Keep the process moving so decisions do not stall
- Presentations & Coordination
- Assist in preparation of client-facing materials including presentations, floor plans, mood boards, and schedules
- Coordinate with contractors, architects, subcontractors, and vendors
- Manage individual deliverables and workflow within larger project schedules and communicate any conflicts to the design team
- Deliveries and Installation Support
- Help coordinate deliveries, including confirming delivery windows and access requirements
- Support installation days as needed, including assisting with punch list follow up and vendor coordination after install
Qualifications
- Based in New York City and available to work in office at least 3 days per week
- Legal authorization to work in the US
Skills
- Proficient in Revit, Adobe InDesign, Miro, Bluebeam, 3D Modeling
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of standard office software (i.e. Google Suite)
- Knowledge of AI tools a plus (i.e. Claude, Midjourney, Firefly)
