About the role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented individual to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial information for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Review and monitor grant applications and awards for accuracy, clarity, appropriate calculations, and completeness.
  • Submit applications and awards to awarding agencies on behalf of the department.
  • Ensure chart of accounts codes, including grant codes and budgets, are established to comply with reporting requirements.
  • Prepare/review complex Federal Financial Reports and analyze data from various reports.
  • Analyze data for federal funding draw processes and assist with the preparation of the state’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
  • Reconcile revenue and expenditure data for grant closeouts.
  • Process payroll adjustments and run or review queries using Access for report preparation or document entry.
  • Maintain compliance with statutes, policies, and procedures, and monitor expenditures and revenue transactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Principles of Accounting: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, standards, and practices (double entry accounting, accrual accounting), including the full accounting cycle and the preparation of work sheets, financial statements, ledgers, and journals.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, public or business administration or a closely related field.
  • Four years of professional government experience in accounting, auditing, purchasing, budgeting, or fiscal management.
  • Additional qualifying experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for deficiencies in the required education.
  • Earned graduate credit hours from an accredited college or university in the specific areas may substitute on a year-for-year basis for a maximum of two years of the required experience at a rate of 24 earned graduate credit hours for one year of experience.
  • Knowledge of Code of State Regulations related to fiscal and procurement activities, and Code of Federal Regulations.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in verbal or written form.
