About the Role

Join our team and play a key role in managing the fiduciary duties of the Division of Behavioral Health. In this position, you will work with a team of accounting professionals to provide support and technical assistance for the Division's budget, coordinate the Department of Health's financial requirements with the Division's multiple federal programs, and ensure alignment with relevant regulatory policies. You will assist with financial reviews, the reconciliation of expenditures and revenues, and the preparation and implementation of corrective action plans in response to audit findings. This is an opportunity to directly influence the alignment of behavioral health services with state and federal regulations while driving continuous improvement in fiduciary responsibility.

Working Environment

The Juneau Central Office is centered in vibrant downtown near the Alaska State Capitol Building, courthouse, Governor's mansion, and state and city museums. We are within walking distance of various restaurants, coffee shops, and gift stores (350 Main Street, Suite 214, Juneau, AK 99811).

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and technical assistance for the Division's budget
  • Coordinate the Department of Health's financial requirements with the Division's multiple federal programs
  • Ensure alignment with relevant regulatory policies
  • Assist with financial reviews and reconciliation of expenditures and revenues
  • Prepare and implement corrective action plans in response to audit findings

Requirements

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the following competencies:

  • Analysis and Assessment: Uses information technology in accessing, collecting, analyzing, maintaining, and disseminating data and information.
  • Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: Uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one's knowledge and experience base.
  • Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information effectively, makes clear and convincing presentations, listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Principles of Accounting: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, standards, and practices, including the full accounting cycle and preparation of financial statements, ledgers, and journals.
  • Technical Competence: Uses knowledge acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform one's job.

Qualifications

Equivalent to those typically gained by any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible professional-level experience in accounting, budgeting, or financial management.
