Interim Head of Finance

Interim Head of Finance & Operations Our client, an early-stage technology company, is seeking an Interim Head of Finance & Operations to lead financial and operational activities across its domestic and international entities. This role is hybrid, with on-site attendance required at least two days per week in San Francisco. This role has a minimum duration of approximately three months, with the potential for extension or consideration for a longer-term opportunity. Responsibilities: Lead finance and accounting activities across domestic and international entities while coordinating internal and outsourced resourcesOversee month-end close, multi-entity consolidations, management reporting, and financial projectionsMaintain cash forecasts and provide leadership with visibility into spending, liquidity, runway, and future funding needsManage usage-based customer billing and revenue recognition in partnership with commercial and operational teamsOversee payroll, employee benefits, retirement plan administration, and related financial processesManage equity administration, including ownership records, employee awards, valuation coordination, and leadership reportingCoordinate domestic and international tax matters, required filings, transfer-pricing activities, and indirect-tax compliance with external advisorsSupport fundraising diligence, board preparation, investor requests, and strategic financial planningCalculate sales commissions and contribute to recurring commercial pipeline reviewsCoordinate with external legal counsel on customer agreements and other operational mattersOversee office vendors, facilities needs, and general business operationsManage international finance personnel and external service providers while strengthening processes, controls, and accountability Requirements: Experience leading finance and operations within an early-stage, venture-backed companyStrong hands-on expertise across close management, consolidations, forecasting, cash planning, revenue recognition, payroll, equity administration, and financial reportingMulti-entity and international finance experience, including coordination across domestic and overseas operationsExperience supporting usage-based billing models, fundraising activities, board reporting, and investor requestsProven ability to manage outsourced accounting, legal, tax, and operational providers while remaining accountable for outcomesStrong judgment, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to operate independently in an evolving environment Compensation: Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco by Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors, including but not limited to: The individual's skill sets, experience, and training;Licensure and certifications; Office location and other geographic considerations; Other business and organizational needs.
