About the role
Supervise a workforce consisting of engineering technicians, and professional architects and engineers. Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set priorities and prepare schedules for completion of work.
Review architectural and engineering (A-E) statements of work; prepare project time schedules; prepare cost estimates and review cost estimates prepared by others.
Oversee and is fully accountable for the work of the Section. Work of the section includes preparing cost estimates for use in negotiating fees for design services; preparing/administrating A-E contracts; maintaining qualification data on A-E firms.
Serve as technical representative for negotiation and administration of contracts.
Engage in planning and/or designing substantial new construction, renovation and improvement projects for real property facilities, encompassing highly specialized or unique requirements.
Participate in a variety of meetings relating to A-E contracting activities (may represent the Branch, or Engineering Division at these meetings as well).

Conditions of employment:
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG).
Qualifications:
- Basic Requirement For Engineers: Degree in engineering, or combination of education and experience.
- Basic Requirement For Architects: Degree in architecture or related field, or combination of education and experience.
- Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes overseeing Architectural-Engineering (A-E) contracts and subsequent contract modifications throughout the project life cycle; preparing government cost estimates and administering A-E contracts; maintaining qualification data on A-E firms and coordinating contracting functions for civil works and/or military construction programs.
- Selective Placement Factor: This position requires Professional Engineering (PE) or Architect registration.
