About the role
Coordinates with other engineers to schedule surveys for use on dredging projects.
Prepares correspondence and schedule interagency or public meetings as required.
Prepares estimates and pricing data and discusses change orders, time extensions, and modifications with the contractors.
Manages the integration of project scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources, communication, risk, procurement, and stakeholder management for assigned programs/projects.
Responsibilities
- Determines the methods of dredging to be used, quantities of material to be removed, and estimates the cost of improvements.
- Develops engineering designs, evaluations, and estimates for a wide range of navigational, civil works, environmental, geotechnical, and facilities projects.
- Determines the estimated project dollars for budget submission for a given fiscal year.
- Prepares evaluations of shoal areas by utilizing the average end area method of calculation of volume for the shoals.
Requirements
- Conditions of employment: Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- License: Requires a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Travel: Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 25% of the time.
- Personal Protective Equipment: Required to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
- Financial Disclosure: Required to submit a financial disclosure upon entry and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
Qualifications
- Education: Degree in engineering or architecture, or combination of education and experience.
- Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating scheduling with engineers for dredging projects and/or construction projects, serving as technical coordinator for assigned work, managing project and functions for navigation dredging and/or civil works projects, estimating and contract changes, determining dredging methods, material quantities, and/or engineering designs for diverse projects, and estimating project costs for budget submissions.
