INTELLIGENCE SPECIALIST.
About the Role
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an intelligence specialist engaging in the processing and exploitation of complex information obtained from multi-intelligence sources. This involves analyzing political, economic, social, cultural, physical, geographic, scientific, and/or military conditions, trends, and forces that directly or indirectly affect national security. Specifically, the Ballistic Missiles Flight of the GEOINT Analysis Squadron leverages all available sources of GEOINT to obtain design characteristics, weapon capabilities, and technology proliferation intelligence, including RDT&E, production, training, and deployment activities on NASIC's prioritized ballistic missile systems of interest with a range of 1,000 kilometers or greater.
Responsibilities
- Performs duties involving the processing and exploitation of complex intelligence information. Situations and information coordinated, integrated, and analyzed are not susceptible to generally accepted methods. Leads and monitors projects or teams in assignments involving the processing and exploitation of ISR (broad-based and domain/discipline-agnostic) products, applications, capabilities, and resources within an assigned geographical or functional area of responsibility.
- Develops experimental approaches and solutions to process or exploit Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT), signals intelligence (SIGINT), and other intelligence sources as necessary.
- Presents ISR capabilities to a variety of service, national, and coalition customers. Provides Commanders and other customers with intelligence information and evaluation derived from ISR assets to maximize their forces' effectiveness by optimizing friendly force strengths, exploiting adversary weaknesses, and countering adversary strengths.
- Serves as a functional authority on ISR issues. Makes recommendations and defends decisions on operational policy matters to the Director and AF ISR Agency staff, often involving large expenditures of Agency funds or resources impacting future capabilities and programs.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle for conferences, meetings, or functions, including overnight stays.
- Must be registered for Selective Service (see Legal and Regulatory Guide).
- Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, and must maintain current certifications.
- This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program.
- Disclosure of Political Appointments is required.
- Direct deposit is required for all federal employees.
- Position is designated as special-sensitive, requiring eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short-notice drug testing.
- Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted), a 1-year probationary period or 2-year trial period may be required. Continued employment beyond this period requires certification, in writing, that continued employment advances the public interest.
Qualifications
This is a GG-13 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-13 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-13 level.
To qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management positions. Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience demonstrating the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of the full range of intelligence research, processing, and exploitation methods, techniques, and practices using multi-source intelligence information systems to capture data and make recommendations in developing intelligence capabilities and threat assessments.
- Knowledge of advanced dissemination principles, concepts, and methods to produce detailed reports on complex information/situations attained from multiple sources.
- Knowledge of the full range of intelligence research, processing, and exploitation methods, techniques, and practices using multi-source intelligence information to capture and report intelligence information affecting national security.
- Knowledge of advanced USAF and national ISR processing and exploitation, PED capabilities, systems, and multi-source intelligence production policies to process and exploit complex information/situations from multiple sources.
- Knowledge of the national intelligence community, Joint, DoD structure, organizations, mission/functions, inter-relationships, and operations.
- Skill in conducting unbiased complex research, identifying appropriate available systems/data sources, and producing processing and exploitation requirement assessments that answer specific tasks.
- Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing, working out solutions to problems, writing clear and concise intelligence products, and delivering presentations to senior-level audiences for decision-making purposes.
- Ability to maintain control of classified material, quickly assimilate disparate data, render knowledgeable and accurate assessments, and make decisions under conditions of urgency and pressure based on mature judgment and experience.
Creditable experience may include previous military experience, private sector experience, or experience gained in another government agency. Part-time or unpaid experience, including volunteer work, will be considered if it demonstrates the required competencies.
