About the role

The position involves managing and directing the intake and assessment department, ensuring adherence to agency, payor, and regulatory requirements. It includes handling telephone calls, conducting risk assessments, and managing caseloads.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct development, implementation, and management of policies and practices of the intake and assessment department.
  • Adhere to program protocols and supervise staff to ensure comprehensive assessments and interventions for all referred individuals.
  • Interface with referral sources and ensure timely responses to all referrals.
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders and manage intake appointments.
  • Manage and check the Care Connect referral database and track CSI data.
  • Manage and oversee eligibility and payor authorization activities.
  • Oversee implementation and evaluation of intake processes.
  • Assign intake clinicians and manage caseloads.
  • Conduct evaluations of staff performance and provide training and coaching.
  • Provide on-call coverage and participate in after-hours rotations.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in the mental health profession with at least two years of experience in human services settings.
  • Experience in management of intake and assessment programs or supervisory experience.
  • Current licensure from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as a Licensed Marriage, Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or current licensure from the California Board of Psychology (BOP) as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY).
  • One-year experience in management of intake and assessment programs.
  • Minimum of 20 hours of directly related professional training annually.
  • Proven typing speed of 30 net wpm.
  • Intermediate and above skill in MS Office applications and Windows-based databases.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records.
  • Exemplary customer service, compassion, and care.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of clinical techniques for assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of people with mental illness.
  • Understanding of community resources and substance use treatment services.
  • Knowledge of Transformational Care Planning (TCP) and its practices.
  • Knowledge of Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) and Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP).
  • Experience with populations identified as high-risk and under-represented in the County Mental Health system.

  • Ability to work independently and in leading a small team environment.
  • Ability to work from a strengths-based, harm-reduction, social rehabilitation model.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and individuals with serious mental illness.
  • Ability to work with populations with histories of assaultive behavior, developmental disabilities, long-term care facility stays, cognitive difficulties, medical co-morbidities, homelessness, and criminal justice involvement.

Pay

The pay range is $108,000 - $120,000 per year based on relevant years of experience.

Schedule

M-F 8:30am-5pm with some coverage required after hours and on weekends.
