About the role
The Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs seeks to hire an examiner to conduct examinations of various insurance entities and supervise audits and investigations.
Responsibilities
- Conducts examinations of insurance companies, fraternal organizations, mutual benefit, hospital and medical associations, and domestic insurance rating organizations to assess solvency, management, and compliance with laws.
- Supervises examinations and audits of insurance agencies to ensure adherence to insurance laws.
- Supervises the annual audit of all insurance organizations' premium tax, financial, and operating statements, collects premium taxes, and prepares annual reports.
- Assigns work and consolidates and analyzes results of all examinations, audits, and investigations.
- Prepares examination and audit reports.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
- Legal Authorization to Work: Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
- Education: A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with at least twelve (12) semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing subjects.
- Experience: One year of professional experience in accounting or auditing, and two years of professional experience in accounting in the insurance field or auditing of insurance business operations.

Skills
- Knowledge of generally accepted professional accounting and auditing principles and practices.
- Understanding of the insurance industry organization, operations, and practices.
- Laws, rules, and regulations governing the conduct of insurance businesses.

Pay
$5,527 to $6,728 per month (SR-22, Step D to I)
