Permanent role with Clyde & Co US LLP for mid-level associates to join the rapidly growing insurance coverage practice in California. The team advises insurers on complex coverage issues in emerging risk areas such as social media, AI, PFAS, privacy claims, and unfair competition and trade practices in online marketplaces. The team also represents insurers in complex litigation involving commercial lines liability and excess policies.

Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on coverage under commercial lines liability and excess insurance policies.
  • Conduct legal research, analyze statutes, case law, and other legal authorities, and draft memoranda and coverage opinions.
  • Prepare and analyze pleadings, discovery, and motions.
  • Attend depositions, hearings, and mediations.
  • Take a proactive role in managing matters, deadlines, and communication with clients.

Requirements

  • Licensed and in good standing in California.
  • Experience in insurance coverage or complex commercial litigation. Ideal candidates will have experience in insurance coverage litigation involving commercial lines third-party coverages, but strong commercial litigation background with demonstrated interest in insurance coverage will be considered.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

Pay

The salary range for this position depends on the level at which the candidate is hired:

  • Associate: $160,000 – $190,000
  • Senior Associate: $185,000 – $240,000
  • Senior Counsel: $230,000 – $275,000

The range considers factors such as skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and business needs. The disclosed range has not been adjusted for geographic differentials.
