Instrument Tech III: HOI Surgery Center (OSCOC)

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Care, cleaning, handling and reprocessing of instruments and equipment.
• Decontaminates instruments and equipment to hospital and regulatory guidelines.
• Assembles and wraps trays for sterilization following procedures and loads and operates sterilizers.
• Uses knowledge of instrumentation, blood and body fluid precautions, disinfection techniques, and methods of sterilization to perform quality assurance monitoring.
• Documents according to policy and procedures.
• Knowledge of supplies, instrumentation, disinfection techniques, and methods of sterilization.
• Assists with orienting new hires and students and performs relief duties.
• In a professional and welcoming manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Provides coordination and assembly of surgery case carts.
• Accurately completes inventory lists for trays and surgeon preference cards, signs, and dates.
• Reviews instrument and inventory supplies, restocks, proactively identifies supply/instrumentation needs, gathers of supplies needed for a specific case, and assists with O.R. sterilization processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in Sterile Processing required.
• Knowledge of surgical terminology, instrumentation, and supplies.
• Basic computer skills.
• Sterile processing and Case Cart experience.
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
