Instrument Person (Land Surveying) UNION ROLE

Essential Functions

  • Setup, maintenance, and operation of all field survey equipment
  • Operation of survey instruments in the field including total stations, levels, data collectors, GPS, and other standard survey equipment
  • Prepare survey sites and remove all obstacles, including debris, brush, tree limbs, etc.
  • Maintain neat and accurate field records and survey notes
  • Assist the Crew Chief in field day to day operations
  • Maintain field vehicles and supplies
  • Upload and download data collection information and photographs
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years land surveying experience, with the ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of surveying equipment
  • Must be detail oriented, with the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Must be available to work overtime as needed, and be available for travel for overnight assignments
  • Must possess a HS Diploma or equivalent; AAS in Surveying a plus
  • Must have or be able to obtain required OSHA training within a reasonable period of time
  • Must possess a valid, clean, driver's license

Physical Requirements

  • Constantly required to assume a stationary position for prolonged periods of time
  • Frequent handling, inspecting, and/or feeling documents, materials, and/or equipment relevant to the job
  • Frequent communication using the Corporate e-mail and telephone systems
  • Frequent movement around the job-site, including ascending or descending the landscape, and positioning themselves appropriately to access necessary materials and equipment
  • Sometimes required to do so in hazardous conditions, such as in woods, water, snow, etc.
  • Frequent lifting and/or moving equipment up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lifting and/or moving equipment up to 75 lbs.
  • Regularly operating a motor-vehicle, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time
  • Close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required for this position in order to detect non-conformities

  • The offered pay may be outside of the provided salary range based upon the selected candidate's work location, experience, education, certifications, and capabilities compared to the advertised position
  • The pay range and benefits package offered for this position are based upon a Collective Bargaining Agreement
