About the role
Coordinates the instrumentation needs of the OR, ensuring instruments are properly maintained and available when needed.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate instrumentation needed based upon OR schedule.
- Responsible for coordinating refurbishment of damaged instrumentation.
- Make recommendations to SPD leadership for future instrument orders based on analysis of past tray builds and usages.
- Independently determine appropriate container size for instrument containers, assess needs for custom-made instrument carriers, weigh and assemble instrument sets according to AAMI standards.
- Assist OR team leaders with open instrumentation projects, building instrument trays if needed for coverage, documenting manufacturer recommendations, and getting new trays into circulation.
- Identify and suggest cost-saving approaches to storage and purchasing of inventory.
- Serve as an instrument expert and resource for staff related to instrument needs.
- Ensure trays are available for routine use by getting trays back into circulation.
- Attend/conduct instrument tray optimization/reduction meetings.
- Maintain a well-organized instrument storage area, controlling and managing peel-pouched instrumentation.
- Maintain database of instruments ordered for services provided.
- Maintain inventory/supplies for instruments.
- Perform QA audits on instrument trays and case carts as needed.
Requirements
- Sterile Processing Certification required.
- Two (2) years of sterile processing experience.
Pay
$19.98 - $28.54 per hour (Hiring Range). Pay offers are determined by experience and internal equity.
