OTHR$70k–$90k/yrFull-time

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated GxP lab service professional to serve as the single point of accountability for Laboratory Instrument Support (LIS) third-party instrument service activity within our customer's clinical manufacturing laboratories in Upper Merion, PA. The successful candidate will provide hosting and execution-level communications with vendors performing instrument services, customer scheduling coordination, GxP documentation flow, and frontline instrument triage. Beyond compliance coordination, the Coordinator also delivers day-to-day operational support for laboratory instruments: performing routine user-level calibrations and basic troubleshooting to resolve common issues without vendor dispatch, and GxP-adapted operational readiness tasks (e.g., equipment cleaning, consumable restocking, safety walks). Each day, the Coordinator boosts laboratory productivity and protects GxP/GMP compliance posture.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary in-lab host for all third-party (multivendor OEM) instrument service activities, providing 100% vendor escorting in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Facilitate vendor onboarding, lab walkthroughs, and point-of-use oversight; enforce customer service expectations and lab safety requirements in real time, at the point of execution.
  • Act as the onsite authority aligning vendor engineers with scientific staff during service execution.
  • Act as the single coordination interface across workflow schedulers, external vendors, customer operations, and end users; sequence service activity to minimize instrument downtime and operational disruption.
  • Maintain a shared status tracker so vendor and service status is visible to stakeholders.
  • Proactively confirm pre-work readiness (materials, access, approvals) prior to vendor arrival.
  • Enforce GxP and GMP compliance baselines during all service activities; execute logbook/ELN entries contemporaneously with service completion.
  • Own calibration sticker placement and accuracy; coordinate collection, review, and routing of vendor field service documentation supporting equipment release.
  • Support interpretation and application of "as found / as left" expectations in coordination with Quality Assurance.
  • Provide frontline failure triage for all managed assets: assess failure, classify urgency, take corrective action where feasible, and determine escalation path prior to vendor or specialist dispatch.
  • Perform routine user-level calibrations (e.g., pipettes, pH meters) and basic troubleshooting to resolve common instrument issues and reduce reliance on vendor engagement for low-complexity service needs.
  • Complete structured triage documentation prior to escalation, providing responding engineers complete and accurate failure context to eliminate redundant diagnostics.
  • Perform GxP-adapted operational readiness tasks (e.g., microplate autoclaving, routine equipment cleaning, consumable restocking/replacement, monthly safety walks).
  • Cross-train a designated backup resource to provide continuity coverage for non-GxP vendor hosting, escorting, and scheduling coordination.
  • Complete administrative paperwork and computer reports promptly and accurately.
  • Be responsive to customer requests for service; communicate proactively before, during, and after service events.
  • Aid leadership in writing, revising, and/or implementing processes and procedures supporting the service coordination model.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Technical, Life Sciences, or a related Science field with 3+ year(s) of hands-on experience in a GxP/GMP-regulated laboratory, quality, or scientific equipment service environment OR
  • Associate's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Business, Technical, or Life Sciences with 5+ year(s) of relevant hands-on laboratory instrument operations, quality/compliance, or equipment service experience OR
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 7+ year(s) of experience in a GxP/GMP-regulated laboratory, quality/compliance, or scientific equipment service environment, including direct vendor coordination, hands-on instrument troubleshooting, or compliance documentation responsibility.

Skills

  • Working knowledge of GxP/GMP regulatory requirements and documentation practices (e.g., logbooks, calibration records, as found/as left conventions).
  • Hands-on skill performing routine user-level instrument calibrations and troubleshooting (e.g., pipettes, pH meters, balances) to resolve common issues without vendor dispatch.
  • Ability to perform frontline user troubleshooting and problem solving, including triage and escalation decisions, when direct technical training is limited.
  • Technical writing, with the ability to complete and review compliance documentation accurately and on schedule.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and coaching skills to train and cross-train backup coverage resources.
  • Experience using Microsoft Suite (i.e., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) and electronic logbook/MES systems (e.g., Syncade).
  • Effective communicator (e.g., audits, inspections, speaking with leadership across PerkinElmer and customer).
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and prioritize conflicting deadlines across multiple vendors and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with international counterparts to achieve global objectives.

Pay

The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $70,000 to $90,000. The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
