About the role

This position is a unique opportunity to work in the academic setting with an experienced and motivated team to address disparities in genetics. The patient population at LAC+USC reflects the diversity of Los Angeles County, and this genetic counselor will strive to provide compassionate and culturally informed genetic counseling to a majority non-English, primarily Spanish-speaking patient population.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a newly funded Cancer Moonshot project “Optimizing Engagement of Hispanic Colorectal Cancer Patients in Cancer Genomic Characterization Studies”
• Counsel Hispanic/Latino research participants with colorectal cancer regarding their genomic findings and work to integrate these results into their medical care
• Join efforts of the research team to improve participant engagement in this unique population
• Formulate and support research activities related to the fields of genetic counseling, cancer genetics and genomics, and precision oncology
• Provide cancer genetic counseling services in a busy academic clinical medical oncology setting
• Oversee patient care, provide genetic counseling, coordinate follow-up visits and cascade genetic testing, provide test results to patients, obtain/review medical records, and conduct outreach to patients, families, the medical community, and stakeholders

Requirements

• M.S. Genetic Counseling, Board eligible or Board certified
• One-year experience in genetic counseling preferred
• Fluency in Spanish is preferred

Pay

Minimum salary range: $75,000 - $100,000 per year

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
