Purpose of Role
The Education Department at Daemen University is seeking qualified adjunct instructors for multiple courses in our graduate programs in Inclusive Education. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching SED 615: Issues in Inclusive Education (graduate-level writing course) and/or EDU 536: Action Research in Literacy Intervention, with oversight by the Chair of the Education Department for curriculum alignment and certification requirements. Both courses have a strong emphasis on academic writing and systematic literature reviews. These are "blended" online courses with a mix of synchronous and asynchronous instruction. Instructors must be available to teach online on Tuesday evenings.Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- NYS teacher certification (any area)
- Expertise in Critical Issues in Inclusive Education (including learners with disabilities and English Language Learners)
- At least three years teaching experience in Grades PK-12 or similar relevant experience
- Knowledge of and experience with research-based literacy interventions (for EDU 536)
- Terminal degree in Education or related field- other advanced degrees with relevant experience (e.g., Director of Special Education, Administrative degrees) may also be considered with demonstration of expertise in the subject matter
- Experience teaching online or in a hybrid format
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Teaching experience in higher education/teacher preparation
- Thorough understanding of Quality Matters rubrics and/or best practices for online instruction
- NYS teacher certification in Students with Disabilities (any grades) and/or Literacy (any grades).
