About the role

Pomeroy College of Nursing at Crouse Hospital is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) for a medical/surgical nursing faculty position based on a 10-month appointment. The faculty responsibilities include providing instruction for nursing students in the classroom, laboratory, and/or clinical settings, as well as support and guidance for students, including formative and summative feedback based on course learning outcomes. Faculty are expected to maintain prescribed workload, including participation in college committees.

Responsibilities

  • Scholarship of teaching:
    • Demonstrates evidence-based teaching practices.
    • Uses foundational teaching strategies appropriate to learner needs, desired learner outcomes, content, and context.
    • Uses information technologies to support the teaching-learning process.
    • Shows enthusiasm for teaching, learning, and one’s own discipline.
    • Uses personal attributes (e.g., caring, confidence, patience, integrity, and flexibility) that facilitate learning.
    • Serves as a professional role model.
    • Identifies individual learning styles and unique learning needs of multicultural adult and at-risk learners.
    • Implements appropriate learning activities and evaluation strategies.
    • Professionally functions within the institutional philosophy and mission, and current discipline trends.
    • Proactively identifies areas of concern with student performance and competently assists students through remediation.
  • Scholarship of Practice: Demonstrates evidence of effective course implementation.
  • Service:
    • Integrates the values of respect, collegiality, professionalism, and caring to build an organizational climate that fosters the development of students and teachers.
    • Determines own professional goals within the context of academic nursing and the mission of the parent institution and nursing program.
    • Participates in professional organizations, continued education, course meetings, and college committees.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing degree program.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing preferred, or must be enrolled in a Master's degree nursing program with a degree completion plan in place upon hire.
  • Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) at the time of hire or within four (4) weeks after hire.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of full-time or its equivalent in clinical nursing experience in the assigned area of responsibility.

Pay

$80,000 - $88,899.20 / year

Schedule

Full-Time, including day and evening hours.
