Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
- Manage the classroom/laboratory.
- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
- Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
- Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
- Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area.
- Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
- Support student organizations and activities.
- Develop relationships with business and industry.
- Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
- Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Must have one of the following:
- Bachelor's degree with two (2) years (4,000 hours) of work experience as an Automotive Collision Repair and Finishing Technician with related Technical Diploma.
- Associate degree with five (5) years (10,000 hours) of work experience as an Automotive Collision Repair and Finishing Technician with related Technical Diploma.
- Technical diploma in Auto Collision Repair/Refinish or closely related field* with seven (7) years (14,000 hours) of work experience as an Automotive Collision Repair and Finishing Technician. *Related fields may include: Automotive Servicing, Adult Vocational Technical Teaching, Automotive Engineering, Automotive Management.
- Occupational Experience: Must have a relevant experience required with education listed above as a Automotive Collision Repair and Finishing Technician. In addition, one of the following must be met:
- At least one year of work experience must have occurred within the last five years OR
- Two years of teaching Automotive Collision Repair and Finishing course work at the postsecondary level within the last five years.
- Industry or Vendor Certification: 1. Must hold current ASE certification in B2, B3, and B4, or obtain within six months of employment. 2. Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record sufficient to be insured by MATC. 3. Successfully complete online defensive driving course within first year of hire.
Supplemental Information
- Start Date: This position supports the Manufacturing, Construction, and Transportation Pathway and is available to start in the Fall 2026 Semester.
- Hours: This position is up to a .5 FTE the number of hours worked per week will vary based on enrollment, departmental need and course load. Work is conducted in-person during scheduled course hours (8:30am-3:30pm).
- Application Materials: Unofficial transcripts or documentation (copies of licenses/apprenticeships etc.) which validate required minimums and is due at time of application.
- Salary: Salary: Beginning in the fall of 2024 the starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable unless market conditions dictate otherwise.
