Responsibilities

• Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
• Maintains accurate and timely records of student work and attendance
• Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
• Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
• Affords feedback and returns student work in a timely manner
• Informs students regarding his/her grades and progress in the course
• Constructs course content meeting college accessibility guidelines
• Maintains regular office hours
• Stays abreast of most current teaching methods and technology in the classroom
• Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
• Serves on college or department committees as needed
• Attends professional development opportunities when possible
• Aids in establishing goals and objectives for the course, selecting text and constructing a syllabus
• Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate
• Participates in graduation exercises

Requirements

• Master's degree in History OR a Master's degree with 18 graduate level hours in History
• Community College teaching experience preferred
• Experience teaching World History and American History

Preferences

• Knowledge of MS Office products
• Working knowledge of Blackboard, an online teaching tool
