Instructional Designer, Senior
About the role
Do you want to develop training that will transform national security? As an Instructional Designer, you know that even the best tools and processes can’t have an impact without the right education. Constructing an interactive course that teaches critical information and tradecraft requires a real passion for understanding the needs of your customer. We have an opportunity for an Instructional Designer who is committed to solving some of the toughest challenges in national security by crafting effective training.
Responsibilities
- Work with SMEs, instructors, and learning technologists to capture your customer’s training needs and advise them on the right learning solution to help them accomplish their mission.
- Design creative learning solutions in a collaborative team environment, building training material with multimedia specialists, graphic artists, instructors, and technical SMEs, following the instructional design methodologies.
- Use your technical skills, creativity, and experience to come up with new ideas to develop an engaging and interactive learning experience on screen or in a classroom.
- Recommend cutting-edge learning solutions and strategies, including blended learning and gamification to build a successful learning environment.
- Meet with SMEs, instructors, and product designers throughout the process to discuss learning material and incorporate feedback.
- Collect and analyze results using evaluation methodologies, such as the Kirkpatrick Model then fine-tune your training for maximum impact.
- Share your expertise through leadership and mentoring.
- Identify new opportunities to build solutions to your customer’s learning needs.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a professional work environment performing instructional design tasks using adult learning methodologies.
- Experience with designing instructor led and web-based training.
- Experience with applying accessibility and usability standards to adult learning solutions.
- Ability to analyze various sources of course content, including policies and regulations, to develop adult learning solutions.
- TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Nice if you have: Experience with creating learning-centered experiences applying the ADDIE method, possession of excellent written and verbal communication skills, Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design preferred; Master's degree in Instructional Design a plus, Adult Learning Theories and Implementation Certification.

Pay
The projected compensation range for this position is $69,400.00 to $158,000.00 (annualized USD).
Schedule
Full-time and part-time employees working at least 20 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in Booz Allen’s benefit programs. Individuals that do not meet the threshold are only eligible for select offerings, not inclusive of health benefits.
Remote: If this position is listed as remote, there may still be occasions when you are required to work in person at a Booz Allen or customer facility.
Hybrid: If this position is listed as hybrid, you will be expected to work from a Booz Allen facility frequently, in alignment with leadership expectations and the needs of the role.
Oncsite: If this position is listed as onsite, work will primarily be performed at a Booz Allen office or customer facility, where employees will collaborate directly with colleagues and customers as required by the role.
