Job Summary/Basic Function

Aid faculty through consultations, trainings, and referrals in learning and using instructional technologies such as learning management systems, collaboration software, digital images, video, audio, and classroom presentation tools. This position may offer remote work opportunities, requiring residency in one of the specified states.

About the Role

The Boise State eCampus Center is dedicated to extending online education beyond traditional boundaries. This position contributes to the design of online courses and works within the Instructional Design Services team.

Department Overview

The Division of Extended Studies aims to expand higher education access and improve student success through innovative programs and lifelong learning options. The Boise State eCampus Center focuses on online education and degree expansion.

Essential Functions

  • Create and maintain tutorials, tools, and templates based on quality standards and instructional design principles.
  • Work with multiple deadlines and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide quality customer service to faculty and staff through professional development related to online teaching and learning.
  • Lead online course design and development projects, coordinating with stakeholders.
  • Support academic programs and activities of Extended Studies staff.
  • Represent Boise State, Extended Studies, and the eCampus Center on various committees and task forces.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Project management skills with strong conceptual and analytical abilities.
  • Familiarity with usability/accessibility requirements and technology issues specific to fully online education.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills, creative thinking, and the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Experience teaching online higher education courses and knowledge of educational technology trends.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in educational technology, instructional design, education/curriculum development, or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in instructional design.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience working with higher education faculty.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience assisting faculty in course design.
  • 2+ years of experience as a teacher, trainer, and/or professional development instructor for adult learners.
  • Experience using the Quality Matters™ rubric.
  • 2+ years of experience providing consultation to faculty and staff on instructional design.
  • 2+ years of experience managing projects involving a team.
  • 2+ years of experience working with learning management/online learning platforms.
