About the role
The role is a full-time, long-term position at Waypoint Academy in Dripping Springs, Texas. It is a W2 employee earning $150,000 annually, with weekly pay and health benefits starting day one. Relocation assistance is provided.
What You Will Be Doing
- Provide coaching to the Guides working with you: analyze performance metrics, observe their interactions with students, and conclude each session with clear, actionable steps to improve outcomes.
- Facilitate hour-long outdoor life-skills workshops where students in grades K-12 develop leadership, resilience, communication, and teamwork through adventure-based activities.
- Conduct motivation sessions informed by student analytics and Coachbot insights to ensure every student progresses toward their goals and takes responsibility for their growth.
- Maintain responsibility for your own student cohort while coaching other Guides, ensuring your feedback is rooted in active practice rather than past experience.
- Monitor student satisfaction, goal achievement, and Guide effectiveness on a weekly basis to identify and address issues before they escalate.
Basic Requirements
- Available to work on-site at Waypoint Academy in Dripping Springs, Texas
- Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, business, outdoor education, recreation, youth development, or a closely related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in education, youth development, coaching, outdoor education, or learning and development (L&D)
- Demonstrated history of leading a team of at least 5 adults, including making hiring and termination decisions based on performance
- Hands-on experience working with youth between the ages of 5 and 18 in an educational or developmental capacity
- Experience building, launching, or substantially scaling a program, team, school, or outdoor initiative from inception, with a concrete and quantifiable example
- Documented ability to use data and performance metrics to establish objectives and inform decisions, beyond simple reporting
Nice-to-have Requirements
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline
- Background in coaching athletics, leading wilderness or experiential education programs, managing camps, or directing youth programs at a scale requiring cohort management and outcome measurement
- Transitioned out of classroom teaching to lead or develop programs in EdTech, tutoring, youth-focused nonprofits, or school intervention initiatives
- Strong personal track record of high achievement—academic, athletic, or professional—early in your career, prior to entering leadership roles
- Conviction that conventional education models are insufficient and a personal commitment to reimagining them
