About the role
The role is on-site at Waypoint Academy in Dripping Springs, Texas. It is a full-time position, paid $75 USD/hour, which equates to $150,000 USD annually assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. Relocation assistance is provided.
Responsibilities
- Provide coaching to the Guides working with you: analyze performance metrics, observe their student interactions, and conclude each session with concrete actions that address performance gaps.
- Facilitate one-hour outdoor workshops focused on life skills where students in grades K-12 develop leadership, grit, collaboration, and communication through experiential challenges.
- Conduct motivation sessions informed by student analytics and Coachbot data to ensure every student progresses toward goals and takes ownership of their development.
- Maintain your own cohort of students while coaching other Guides, ensuring your guidance comes from active practice rather than recollection.
- Monitor student satisfaction metrics, goal attainment, and Guide performance on a weekly basis to identify and address underperformance early.
Requirements
- Willing to work on-site at Waypoint Academy in Dripping Springs, Texas.
- Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, business, outdoor education, recreation, youth development, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years in education, youth development, coaching, outdoor education, or learning and development (L&D).
- Demonstrated history of leading a team of 5 or more adults, including experience making hiring and performance-based termination decisions.
- Direct experience working with youth between the ages of 5 and 18 in educational or developmental contexts.
- Experience building, launching, or substantially expanding a program, team, school, or outdoor initiative from inception, with a concrete and measurable example.
- Demonstrated ability to use data and metrics to establish goals and inform decisions, not merely to document outcomes.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline (nice-to-have).
- Experience coaching athletics, leading wilderness or experiential education programs, managing camps, or directing youth programs at a scale requiring cohort management and outcome measurement.
- Transitioned from classroom teaching to program development or management roles in EdTech, tutoring organizations, youth-focused nonprofits, or school intervention initiatives.
- Strong early-career performance record—academic, athletic, or professional—prior to entering leadership.
- Conviction that conventional education systems are failing and personal commitment to redesigning them.
Skills
