About the role
Per Scholas seeks a dynamic, team-oriented individual to serve as an Instructional Associate. The Instructional Associate will play an essential role in our organization’s mission by training Per Scholas learners to become outstanding entry and mid-level technicians.
Responsibilities
- Classroom Facilitation
- Assist the Technical Instructor in conducting technical training using a structured and approved curriculum to prepare learners for entry to mid-level Information Technology jobs. Competencies include hardware, software, networking, security, server, mobility, virtualization, cybersecurity, web development, quality assurance, and project management.
- Facilitate in a highly interactive, hands-on style.
- Consult with the Instructor before providing learners with review materials, videos, or other support.
- Form and lead study groups based on instructor evaluations, with topics determined by the instructor and learners. Study groups may be held during class (with instructor approval) or before/after class.
- Consult with the instructor to prepare daily and upcoming activities, including gathering necessary tools for lectures and hands-on labs.
- Understand the curriculum and be prepared to conduct a lesson if the instructor is absent (not for extended periods).
- Ensure all equipment loaned to or used by learners is returned to the instructor, storage closet, or original owner.
- Utilize an in-house Learning Management System for assignments, tests, real-time performance monitoring, and entering learner attendance, grades, and scorecards.
- The curriculum allows a maximum of 1.5 hours of lecture in a 6-hour teaching day, with the remainder dedicated to interactive, hands-on lab activities led by the Technical Instructor. Class sizes range from 15-30 learners.
- Managing Learner Performance
- Provide learners with ongoing feedback, identify challenges early, and collaborate with the instructor, coaches, and learners to overcome them.
- Coordinate closely with instructors and career coaches to enforce program rules and promote learner success.
- Implement individualized study plans for learners who are struggling.
- Participate in all required learner progress meetings with other team members.
- Monitor and enforce learner class attendance, dress code, and other program policies.
- Administrative
- Participate in staff meetings.
- Conduct real-time learner data entry in Salesforce and/or Canvas.

- Professional Qualifications
- Graduate of a Per Scholas Training Program.
- Obtained all certifications offered in the training course in which you participated.
- Ability to teach in a highly interactive and hands-on style.
- Passion for teaching others.

Pay
The hourly rate for this position is $21/hour.
