Instructional Assistant III [7 hours per day] at La Vista Center (PC #: 31082 / Job ID #8918)

Location: La Vista Center. Position Type: Permanent. Employment Type: Part Time.

Responsibilities

• Support severe/emotionally disturbed students, including those in Learning Handicap or Communicatively Handicap programs.
• Work with students designated as emotionally disturbed (ED) or autism classes, and assist individual students assigned to a Behaviorist.
• Provide assistance to groups of children and to impaired children or adults.
• Apply knowledge of child development to support student needs.

Qualifications

• Meet one of the following pre‑qualification requirements:
  • [A] Passing score from SJUSD's Proficiency Exam (test date April 2005 to present).
  • [B] Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST).
  • [C] Official transcripts showing completion of two years of college (48 semester/60 quarter units).
  • [D] Proof of an A.A. degree or higher.
  • If degree/transcripts are from a foreign institution, coursework must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
• Experience working with groups of children is desirable.
• Experience working with impaired children or adults is highly desirable.
• Coursework in child development is highly desirable.
• Willingness and ability to obtain a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire (if required for equipment/vehicle operation).

Pay

$20.64 – $27.23 per hour (CSEA General Unit Salary Schedule, benefits included).

Schedule

• Work year: 9 months/year, 206 days/year, 5 days/week (Calendar 18B).
• Work day: 7 hours.
• Work hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–3:32 pm.
