About the role
The Instructional Assistant (IA) supports classroom teachers in various activities and creates a safe, supportive environment for students.
Responsibilities
- Aids teachers in planning and organizing lessons.
- Evaluates instructional activities and prepares necessary materials.
- Assists in maintaining a positive and safe classroom environment.
- Participates in staff development programs and professional growth.
- Maintains a positive disposition and remains calm during interactions with students.
- Performs vision and hearing screenings and enters results into the EASi system.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- For Title I schools, meet ESSA employment requirements and have relevant coursework or work experience.
- Hold and maintain a Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification, as determined by the principal.
- Possess CPR and First Aid certifications (preferred).
Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Apps.
- Working knowledge of core subjects at the grade level to which employment is assigned.
- Ability to recognize and support students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to implement academic and behavioral interventions as needed.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with others.
- Ability to motivate students and maintain their safety and well-being.
Skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Google Apps proficiency.
- Successful instructional delivery methods.
- Understanding of diverse student backgrounds and learning styles.
- Clear and concise communication skills.
