Instructional Assistant - Basic Support for Shady Cove School (3 Day Posting)

About the role

The Basic Support Instructional Assistant works alongside licensed staff to assist with small-group instruction, support individual students, reinforce positive behavior strategies, and provide classroom supervision throughout the school day. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and is passionate about contributing to a positive school climate. Bilingual candidates in Spanish are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist with small-group instruction under the direction of licensed staff
• Support individual students with academic and behavioral needs
• Reinforce positive behavior strategies and classroom routines
• Provide classroom supervision throughout the school day

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Meet one of the following:
  • Two years of postsecondary education
  • An associate’s degree or higher
  • A passing score on the district’s reading, writing, and math assessment
• Valid Oregon driver’s license and reliable transportation
• CPR/First Aid certification encouraged

Qualifications

• Dependability, patience, and ability to follow teacher direction
• Prior experience working with children in a school or youth setting preferred
• Strong communication skills, flexibility, and willingness to grow within a school team

Benefits

• Position begins September 8, 2026
• 182 contract days per year at 7 hours per day

Pay

$17.20–$24.45 per hour, depending upon verified previous full-time experience in a similar position. Salary listed indicates current 2023–2026 Collective Bargaining Agreement and is subject to change.
