Instructional Aide for Response to Intervention

Reports to: RtI Teacher/Building Principal. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt.

About the Role

We are looking for an encouraging, dedicated Instructional Aide for our Response to Intervention (RtI) Program to empower students in reading, writing, and mathematics. In this rewarding role, you’ll work side-by-side with talented educators to provide targeted support, build confidence, and help young learners succeed.

The RtI Instructional Aide will work with small groups to provide instruction to struggling learners in reading, writing, and mathematics, implementing district-approved curricula and programs and following teacher-created lessons. The instructional aide takes no independent actions but has some decision-making authority limited and regulated by board policy and state law.

Responsibilities

• Provide meaningful learning experiences to address knowledge and skills of students within the curriculum.
• Provide instruction to students, empowering them to meet their individual academic and career goals.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, modifying instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs.
• Conduct assessments, testing, and diagnostic examinations of students to identify learning issues and recommend corrective procedures.
• Conduct remedial learning activities, incorporating a variety of teacher-provided instructional methods and materials.
• Administer evaluation instruments and procedures to monitor student progress and the effectiveness of instruction.
• Document teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes.
• Coordinate with RtI teachers regarding reading, writing, and mathematics assessments and remedial teaching techniques.
• Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student learning.
• Ensure that student conduct conforms to the school’s standards and district policies, maintaining standards of behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.

Requirements

• Must hold a valid IL paraprofessional license.
• Minimum qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher education; or
  • Completed 60 semester hours of college credit at a regionally accredited institution of higher education; or
  • HS Diploma or GED and a score of 460 or higher on the ETS Parapro; or
  • HS Diploma or GED and passing scores on the ACT Workkeys.
• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to work with teachers, education support personnel, building administrators, and the general public.
• Ability to enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 10 lbs.
• Must be detail-oriented.
• Successful prior instructional aide experience for elementary grade levels preferred.

Pay

Pay Range: $18.04–24.04 per hour (based on experience) plus board-paid IMRF.

Schedule

177 work days per year, 7.25 hours per day.
