Intervention Instructional Assistant

Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Completion of at least two years of college coursework (60 credit hours), an associate degree, or successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment is preferred.

Knowledge of child development, reading strategies, and basic classroom management techniques.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.

Demonstrated patience, positivity, and a supportive attitude toward student learning.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Performance Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in preparing and delivering instructional lessons and activities.
• Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce reading skills and academic concepts.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers regarding student performance.
• Support the administration of academic assessments and related documentation.
• Aid in classroom management using positive behavior support strategies.
• Prepare instructional materials and maintain organized records.
• Assist with classroom organization and help maintain a safe, welcoming, and productive learning environment.
• Participate in parent conferences and meetings as requested.
• Operate classroom technology and standard office equipment as required.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and educational records.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or principal.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently exert 10 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move materials and equipment.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and move throughout the school environment during the workday.
• This position primarily involves sitting; however, standing, walking, and occasional running may be required.
• Ability to actively supervise and assist students in classroom and school settings.
• Ability to perceive the nature of sounds; possess near and far visual acuity, depth perception, and manual dexterity sufficient to operate classroom and office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively and provide oral information to students, staff, and parents.
