The San Juan Unified School District is seeking an Elementary Instructional Assistant for the 2023-2024 school year under Calendar 18A.

About the role

This position supports the educational program at Dewey Elementary School. The ideal candidate should have experience working with students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.

Responsibilities

• Supports classroom teachers in providing a safe and inclusive learning environment for students.
• Assists with the organization and management of classroom materials and supplies.
• Participates in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Works collaboratively with other staff members to ensure student success.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing preferred.
• Valid California Driver’s License.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Passing background check and fingerprint clearance.

Skills

• Knowledge of assistive technology and resources for students with hearing impairments.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Pay

$19.51 - $24.55 per hour.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 2:45 PM.

Length of Work Year: 9 months/year, 206 days/year, 5 days/week.
