The San Juan Unified School District is seeking an Elementary Instructional Assistant for the position of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing. This is a part-time position (0.8125 FTE) with a salary range of $19.51 - $24.55 per hour.

About the role

This position supports the educational program for students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. The work involves providing instructional support, facilitating communication between students and staff, and assisting with classroom management.

Responsibilities

• Supports students with hearing impairments in accessing educational materials and resources.
• Facilitates communication between students and teachers, using sign language and other assistive technologies.
• Assists in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment for students with hearing impairments.
• Participates in professional development opportunities to enhance skills in working with students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing is preferred.
• Knowledge of sign language and assistive technologies.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Valid California Driver’s License.

Schedule
