Job Summary
The position of Spartan Leader is one where student leaders can make a meaningful contribution to new students attending Elgin Community College. Spartan Leader help new students make positive and welcoming transition to ECC, assist new students navigate through their first year. Additionally, Spartan Leaders will assist with the Office of First Year Programs and Student Life events such as; Welcome weeks, The Big Event, Passport Blitzes, New Student Convocation and Campus Jam, Campus Tours, and much more. Spartan Leaders are well trained and informed about procedures, policies and resources regarding Elgin Community College.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Currently enrolled in a least six (6) ECC credit hours
- Good academic standing (min. 2.5 GPA)
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills and the potential to develop these skills
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm about ECC
Essential Duties
- Welcome new students to Elgin Community College
- Lead discussion groups with incoming students
- Represent the college by presenting accurate and helpful information
- Aid with Student life and Firs Year programs events
- Communicate with new students regarding completion of orientation
- Provide tours to incoming students
