Position Summary
This position is established as an Institutional Security Officer under the Institutional Security Supervisor- SES. The primary function of this position is to ensure the overall security of Sunland Center. Ability to document and ensure documentation is completed as required.
The Work You Will Do
- Patrol the grounds to ensure protection and security for the residents, state property and the premises. Detect signs of possible fire, theft, danger, or loss of state property.
- Answer and direct telephone calls to the appropriate staff. Assist and provide information to callers concerning all aspects of the community. Maintain telephone contact with all on-call staff, physicians, nurses, dentists, maintenance, and the Officer of the Day. Report on all phone activity and problems according to policy.
- Monitor and enforce public access to campus by stopping all vehicles without a valid decal. Check driver’s license, as required, to guard against theft and maintain security on campus.
- Monitor fire and burglar alarms on campus. Contact and provide escorts and assistance to all fire, medical emergency and law enforcement vehicles admitted on campus. Assist or perform routine fire drills and home monitoring, as required, throughout campus.
- Compile and prepare reports and input data into the computer on daily activities. Perform incidental typing of correspondence, memoranda’s reports, records, and other office documents from rough and finalized copies.
- Aid or conduct searches for missing resident, which may include notification of outside law enforcement with information regarding the description of the missing person.
- Investigate any unusual incidents or emergencies, which include any disturbances or accidents involving residents or staff, prepare required reports and initiate follow-up as required.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience in law enforcement, security or public contact work
