Institutional Engagement Liaison
Position Summary
The Institutional Engagement Liaison (IEL) assists the Vice President for Community and Global Impact (VPCGI) and the Office of Community and Global Impact (OCGI) to promote fair access and opportunity for all students and employees equipping them with the preparedness to engage and thrive in their learning, leadership and service within the communities they are part of at the local, state, national, and global level. The desired outcome of this position is to promote an increasingly welcoming and supportive environment for students, faculty, and staff regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, gender expression, socioeconomic status, age, religious affiliation, abilities/disabilities, and other social identities.
About the Role
- Serve as a campus resource for the Office of Community and Global Impact (OCGI)
- Organize and support OCGI campus events and programming
- Organize professional development and trainings for the OCGI
- Collaborate with campus and community partners and stakeholders to support and integrate OCGI initiatives for greater reach and impact
- Support effective programs and services in compliance with federal and state regulations
- Assist the VPCGI with other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in higher education, student affairs, organizational leadership, or related field
- Experience working effectively and collaboratively with pluralistic faculty, staff and student populations
- Understanding the relevance and importance of people, place, and perspectives as it relates to our university and surrounding communities
- Training in cross-cultural empathy and leadership

- A recognized ally for students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds and lived experiences
- A demonstrated commitment to bringing a people-centered/students-first perspective to ethical decision-making
- A demonstrated commitment to supporting student retention efforts, especially for first year students
- Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to listen to a variety of constituent groups, synthesize input, and make decisions
- Skill in sharing information broadly to build consensus and support for action with a clearly articulated vision
- Inspirational leadership qualities—visionary, communicative, adaptive, transparent, empowering team builder; engenders trust, maintains a good sense of humor
- Agility in handling criticism effectively in high stress situations
- Experience as a mediator and/or with conflict resolution skills
- Ability to utilize institutional data to benchmark and promote accountability for initiatives and planning
